HOLIThe Story behind Holi
The word 'Holi' originates from 'Holika' . In ancient Indian mythology, 'Holika' was the sister of a powerful demon King who insisted that everyone should worship him . His own son, Prahlad refused to do so , thus inviting the wrath of his father. Prahlad being a devotee of Hindu God Vishnu irked the King even more. The King's sister, Holika, who was immune to fire decided to take Prahlad in a pyre with her as a punishment. As the flames roared and surrounded them, Holika was killed and Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu thus symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
Today, Holi is widely celebrated around the world .
Happy Holi!
